Columbus is Ohio’s largest city and one of the fastest-growing cities in the Midwest. With a population of more than 938,000, Columbus is currently the 15th-largest city in the United States. Covering approximately 220 square miles, the city and surrounding Central Ohio communities offer an incredible variety of places to call home—from vibrant urban neighborhoods and historic districts to established suburbs and communities with a little more room to spread out.

The Columbus Recreation and Parks system includes more than 400 parks, over 14,000 acres of parkland and access to approximately 230 miles of regional trails. Some of the city’s best-known green spaces include Schiller Park in historic German Village, Goodale Park near the Short North Arts District and Franklin Park on the east side, home to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. From neighborhood parks and riverfront trails to Metro Parks just outside the city, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors throughout Central Ohio.

A Growing Economy
Columbus is also home to a diverse and growing economy. Major employers and industries span healthcare, education, finance, insurance, technology, retail, logistics, manufacturing and government.
The region is home to major employers including The Ohio State University, OhioHealth, Nationwide, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, JPMorgan Chase, Huntington, Cardinal Health, Bath & Body Works, Amazon and Honda. Central Ohio has also attracted significant investment from technology companies including Google, Meta and Intel. Intel is currently developing its Ohio One semiconductor manufacturing campus in New Albany, with initial operations currently planned for the early 2030s.
And while Columbus continues to grow, it still manages to offer something many people love about living here: the amenities and opportunities of a major metropolitan area combined with communities that can feel surprisingly welcoming and connected.
